FEIDAD 2005 Semi-finalist

“figure-configure” project is an experiment of structure matrixes. Using a hairstyle as its base structural model, we apply the same braiding techniques to architecture. Each braid can transform into a proper structural support depending on the load. It ranges from bent steel tubes systems, which have a minimum amount of connection points, to space frames, which have a maximum. The matrix of figures identifies the key components and reconfigures infinitively, and the program emerges from within. Therefore, the project can be an exhibition space, housing units, an amphitheater, or a mix-use space.
